Recently in April and May of 2005 various TV news releases were release on Uni-Vison TV. The programs were under Primero Impacto.

One such release was Azucar Amarga which discussed child labor in the Dominican Republic. Child labor was categorically denied by everyone including Mr. Franklin Almeyda, Secretary of Police and Iinterior. It is interesting to note that Mr. Almeyda as secretary of police denied that child labor exists. Yet every morning one can see his police officers having their shoes cleaned and polished in front of the Justice Department and at all police departments.
